Behind the doors of brothels throughout Spain, women were suffering. Human traffickers trapped, drugged, and abused them. Many were from Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, and Ecuador, manipulated and coerced with promises of safe jobs. Upon arrival, they encountered sexual exploitation at the hands of greedy men and one of the most expansive trafficking networks in Spain.

In one region known for its high rates of sex trafficking, Spanish authorities launched a major operation. They raided multiple undercover flats and massage parlors tied to organized trafficking networks. And right there, on the front lines, was an Atlas Free Network Member.

They assisted and accompanied law enforcement to five of the brothels. Inside, they met women who had lost all hope of escape and were living in cramped flats, drugged, manipulated, and used. But in that moment, they weren’t alone anymore.

The Atlas Free Network Member offered them safety, calm, and care when they needed it most. They helped the survivors give statements to the authorities, rest in safe spaces, and take the first courageous steps toward freedom.

That day, the government released dozens of women, and the Atlas Free Network Member was able to assist and accompany 21 of the survivors to freedom, providing immediate support and guidance during and after the operation. A system built on violence and exploitation was broken. During the raid, the police arrested 20 individuals, including the head of the trafficking organization.

That's 21 lives now living in freedom and 20 traffickers put behind bars because of people like you.

Across Spain, survivors are now receiving the support they need to heal and rebuild. They are testifying in court, healing, and reclaiming their voices. And it’s not over. When you give now, you’re fueling moments when exploitation is stopped in its tracks and freedom takes the lead.
